Interesting piece. I've been writing on Medium since 2017, and always at a very irregular pace, based on how I felt and what I wanted to share.
This year I joined the Partner Program. Saw a big spike in engagement, since Medium has increasingly moved towards pushing paywalled articles over free ones. I used to get free articles distributed before the shift, that's quite rare these days.
But then, since joining, I felt this pressure to start writing more, and I agree with you that quality falls if you push for quantity too much. Got named a Top Writer in Technology with 700 followers only, so I definitely felt like I should be publishing more.
My point is: I think you're right. By having a platform where engagement with followers is higher, I might not feel as pressured to put out a lot of content, and rather focus on what's meaningful to my community.
Let's see how it goes!
